College Psychology Interns and College Student Leaders bring advanced knowledge,
mentorship, and supervision to Dare To Live. They bridge the gap between high
school peer leaders and professional mental health advocates, ensuring student-led
activities remain safe, inclusive, and effective. Their lived experiences and academic
background make them uniquely positioned to guide high school students while
modeling leadership and resilience.
• Attend and supervise high school Dare To Live club activities, including peer
support circles, book clubs, and workshops.
• Provide mentorship to high school peer leaders, offering advice on coping
strategies, leadership, and program facilitation.
• Serve as near-peer role models, demonstrating that mental health challenges can
be overcome.
Training & Education
• Assist licensed mental health professionals in delivering training sessions for high
school student leaders.
• Provide workshops and interactive sessions on stress management, emotional
literacy, and coping tools.
• Support the development of culturally competent, youth-friendly educational
content.
Event Participation & Facilitation
• Help facilitate community events, school presentations, and webinars alongside
professionals.
• Participate in Dare To Live’s podcasts, creative expression projects, and social
media campaigns.
• Coordinate and lead inter-school collaborations and student wellness challenges.
• Represent Dare To Live at university, community, and district events to build
partnerships and raise awareness.
• Engage with underserved communities, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, immigrant, and
homeless youth populations.
• Advocate for breaking stigma around mental health through public speaking and
peer-to-peer interaction.
Fundraising & Support
• Assist in planning and running fundraising activities, such as food sales, awareness
walks, or benefit events.
• Help secure resources, including space, materials, and sponsorships, through
university connections.
• Encourage community service projects that fund therapy or provide support tools
for underserved youth.
- Supervise at least one high school Dare To Live club activity each month.
- Participate in quarterly training sessions and workshops.
- Contribute to at least one outreach or awareness event per semester.
- Flexible opportunities to engage in webinars, podcasts, and resource development.
By serving as College Psychology Interns and College Student Leaders, participants:
- Gain hands-on experience in mental health education, peer leadership, and
community outreach.
- Strengthen their academic and professional development through applied service-
learning.
