Educators and School Staff Advisors are critical partners in Dare To Live. They
provide guidance, oversight, and advocacy within the school environment, ensuring
that Dare To Live clubs align with district policies and school goals. Their role helps
integrate peer-led mental health initiatives into the broader educational system,
ensuring safety, inclusivity, and sustainability.
• Serve as the official school sponsor for Dare To Live clubs, ensuring alignment
with school and district policies.
• Provide oversight for student-led meetings, workshops, and activities.
• Support peer leaders in following confidentiality and safety protocols.
Mentorship & Support
• Mentor student peer leaders by offering guidance in leadership, public speaking,
and event planning.
• Support peer leaders in addressing sensitive topics with compassion and
professionalism.
• Encourage students to seek professional support when needed.
Event & Program Collaboration
• Assist in organizing school-wide events such as assemblies, awareness campaigns,
and wellness weeks.
• Help coordinate guest speakers, including mental health professionals and college
student volunteers.
• Promote Dare To Live activities in school newsletters, bulletins, and
announcements.
Communication & Advocacy
• Serve as a liaison between Dare To Live, school administration, and
parents/guardians.
• Advocate for integrating Dare To Live activities into school wellness and SEL
(Social-Emotional Learning) initiatives.
• Ensure that culturally competent and inclusive practices are upheld in all
activities.
• Help connect students with appropriate on-campus and community mental health
resources.
• Assist in distributing Dare To Live educational materials and resource guides.
• Support fundraising and resource development for club activities, when
appropriate.
- Attend Dare To Live club meetings (weekly or bi-weekly) as school sponsor.
- Support at least one major awareness or outreach event each semester.
- Provide ongoing communication with Dare To Live staff and mental health
advisors as needed.
By serving as Educators & School Staff Advisors, participants:
- Ensure Dare To Live clubs are safe, structured, and impactful.
- Empower peer leaders to take initiative while providing necessary adult guidance.
- Strengthen the partnership between schools, families, and Dare To Live.
- Contribute to reducing stigma and fostering a culture of openness around mental
health.
- Help sustain Dare To Live as an integrated and long-term part of the school’s
wellness strategy.
